PETRONAS CEO announced plans to reduce emissions at Turkmenistan fields

    25 Aug 25

PETRONAS CEO in Turkmenistan Ismail Ismadi announced the company’s plans to further develop energy projects in the country on the eve of the 30th International Conference and Exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – OGT 2025”.

In an interview with Turkmen Energy Journal, the head of the Malaysian energy company noted that PETRONAS has been operating in Turkmenistan for almost 30 years, since the signing of the Production Sharing Agreement for Block I in 1996. During this period, the company has accumulated significant experience in developing offshore fields in the Caspian Sea and introducing advanced technologies in the production and processing of hydrocarbons.

Ismadi stressed that Block I remains the core of PETRONAS' operations in Turkmenistan and retains significant potential for further development. Together with its partners, including ADNOC Turkmenistan RSC Limited and the state-owned enterprise “Hazarnebit”, the company continues to focus on optimizing production and increasing operational efficiency.
