National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will attend the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled for May 17–22, 2026, in Baku, Trend reported Monday, citing Turkmenistan’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Gurbanmammet Elyasov.

Turkmenistan will participate in the forum with specific achievements, prepared projects and future plans. The country’s exhibition will highlight urban development initiatives implemented in Ashgabat, as well as the “smart city” project Arkadag.

Turkmenistan plans to present its results and future plans in urban development and sustainable urbanization, showcasing an approach based on a combination of state strategy, social orientation and the introduction of modern technologies.

WUF13 will be held under the auspices of UN-Habitat and will bring together international experts, architects, urban planners and government delegations from several countries. The event is expected to contribute to advancing the global sustainable urban development agenda and strengthening international cooperation in urban planning.
