Issues of further cooperation between Turkmenistan and United Nations Development Programme discussed

    23 Apr 26

On 23 April 2026, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Turkmenistan Narine Sahakyan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UNDP.

The importance of cooperation within the framework of the UNDP Country Programme for 2026-2030, covering public administration, digital transformation, economic development, the climate agenda, and the social sphere, was emphasized. In this context, the positive dynamics of project cooperation, including the steady growth in the number of jointly implemented initiatives, were noted.

Particular attention was paid to Turkmenistan's preparation of its Third Voluntary National Review on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals for presentation in 2027 at the ECOSOC High-level Political Forum.

During the conversation, the importance of the Open Dialogue format as an effective platform for substantive discussion of pressing sustainable development issues, including SDG financing and the introduction of modern tools, was also emphasized.

The sides also considered issues related to the implementation of current joint projects, resource mobilization, and the further promotion of inter-agency cooperation.

Following the meeting, readiness to continue a constructive dialogue in all the above-mentioned areas was confirmed.
