    Malaysia Eyes Participation in Galkynysh Gas Field Projects

    Malaysia is seeking participation in development and drilling projects at the Galkynysh gas field to help increase commercial gas production volumes. The statement was made by Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican during a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of Turkmen People, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan held on Tuesday.

    According to Turkmenistan’s official media, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the importance of the initiatives discussed during the talks and stressed the need to focus joint efforts on implementing promising projects in the gas chemical industry. The Malaysian side, in turn, confirmed its readiness to present concrete proposals in this area.

    The National Leader of the Turkmen people also emphasized the strategic importance of signing the Protocol on Commercial Terms between the State Concern Türkmennebit and PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd., which is planned as part of the current visit of the Malaysian delegation. It was also reported that during the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister of Malaysia to Turkmenistan, the parties intend to sign a Production Sharing Agreement between Türkmennebit and PETRONAS Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd.

    The meeting also focused on cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, including education. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the education of Turkmen students at Malaysian universities contributes to strengthening bilateral ties.

    The National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed confidence in the further expansion of partnership in the areas of digital technologies in industrial processes, energy-efficient systems and environmental safety.

    At the conclusion of the talks, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican reaffirmed their intention to continue developing effective cooperation in the interests of the friendly peoples of the two countries and exchanged best wishes.
